Media Reform

The CA NOW Media Reform Committee was formed in 2005 and works to bring positive reform to media through direct action and coalition work.Press

The media plays a significant role in affecting public opinion and public policy.   CA NOW works to influence the messages of the media, recognizing and demanding accountability for images and messages harmful to women.  We also recognize the good works within the field, hosting the annual CA NOW Excellence in Media Awards.  In addition, we work to create our own media, making documentary films, creating and recording our own Internet radio talk show, publishing documents, starting a weblog, and publicizing our events, issues and perspectives through the mainstream media.   We take action on media reform issues, including preserving net neutrality, fighting media conglomeration and FCC pandering to corporate pressures. We also encourage our chapters and members to let their voices be heard by working to get their opinions, events and information into the media.

Committee is chaired by Jerilyn Stapleton
