Equal Rights Amendment

Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States, or by any state, on account of sex.

The California NOW ERA Committee was formed at the 2007 State Conference.  It was passed by unanimous vote by the following resolution ~

Whereas California NOW is the largest women’s organization in the largest state in the country and is committed to protecting women's rights and is focused on issues relating to equal rights, 

Whereas California NOW is often the provider of information on issues which affect the women and girls of California,

Whereas The Equal Rights Amendment was re-introduced in to the 110th Congress on March 27, 2007 and has 204 supporters with national awareness & support collecting,

Whereas This modern movement to ratify the ERA has become a renewed possibility with the 110th Congress and the change of leadership in some non-ratified states,

Therefore Be It Resolved CANOW supports the ratification of the federal ERA.
