The Diversity Committee of CA NOW was formed to acknowledge the “double jeopardy” that women of color face-being treated as second class citizens because they are both a woman and a person of color-and to remedy the fact that women of color have been historically underrepresented within the feminist movement and society in general.

Further, while we feel that it is very important to acknowledge that racial and ethnic diversity are crucial, it does not necessarily equal equality. Therefore, the Committee strives to open the lines of communication within CA NOW, the broader feminist community, and our local communities in order to explore how our racial and ethnic diversity can, in fact, LEAD to equality for all people of color.
