Members of the House of Representatives are debating an amendment that would result in women losing coverage for abortion care under the proposed national health care plan.
After a meeting last night between some Congressional Democrats and Catholic Bishops, Nancy Pelosi is allowing a vote on the Stupak amendment to prevent any federal funds to be used for abortion coverage (anyone choosing the public option would not have abortion coverage, nor would anyone whose premiums were subsidized). This actually removes coverage for care from women who already have it!
Call your Representative now at (202) 225-7163 and ask her or him to oppose the Stupak amendment!
Then make two more calls, to make sure that California's Representatives stand for women's health care across teh board! Dennis Cardoza and Jim Costa both represent the Central Valley, and they need to hear from Californians, even those not in their districts.
