Far from being abortion-neutral, the Stupak/Pitts Amendment, dictated in a back room by the Catholic Bishops and its army of lobbyists, is a giant step backward for women's right to choose. Millions of poor and middle class women will be denied abortion coverage and millions more will lose the coverage they already have. In fact, George Washington University has released analysis showing that the amendment would essentially all coverage for abortion under any health plan. This means that women's health care is still being treated as less than essential. Sign a petition to your Senators telling them that this is unacceptable in any health reform bill. Can you write a letter to the editor today urging Congress to keep the anti-choice "Stupak amendment" out of the final health care bill? Click here to get started, MoveOn.org makes it easy!
