Hillary Clinton's Campaign: What Did It Do for Women?

Al Gore stated over the weekend that Hillary Clinton's campaign for the presidency helped to change society's perception of women.  When asked about the sexism she faced during the campaign, he stated,

Hillaryclinton2004marchwomenslives "I think that women often face these kinds of challenges, of course, in our society," but went on to say of sexism and racism, "these old things that held us down in the past, we're now within sight of a time when we can move beyond that."

I guess I'm a bit more pessimistic.  I think her campaign showed just how deeply ingrained sexism and misogyny still is in our society.  I can only hope that her campaign has exposed the amount of work we still have before us.

What do you think?
