Good News on Prop. 8: Marriage Equality
Daily Kos has reported that a recent Field Poll shows 51% of likely voters opposed to the proposed amendment to amend the California constitution so that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.
Of course, that's a slim margin, but showing a positive trend this early before the election may make the campaign for marriage equality a little easier.
The title of the proposition has also changed, from "Limit on Marriage. Constitutional Amendment," to, "Eliminates Right Of Same-Sex Couples To Marry. Initiative Constitutional Amendment." Hopefully this will get people at the polls thinking before they take away a right that already exists.

I'm sure most of you reading this Believe in God, and that we are his children. I'm sure you also believe that he has spoken his will for us, such as with the commandments. Likewise, GOD has already defined marriage, and who are we to change that? This is not something men and women made up. Marriage was created and ordained of God, and as such, we have no right to re-define it. Please support Prop 8. It takes no rights away from gays, it simply preserves the divine nature of marriage, which is the union of one man and one woman.

I'm not even going to get into the discussion of the many different ways marriage has been defined in different cultures, and by different "god"s. Let me just ask you this:
Do you eat pork, ham, bacon, lobster, crabs, or clams?
Ever have a cheeseburger?
Wear any clothing that is poly/cotton, or wool/linen or any other mix of cloth types?
Ever yell at your parents when you were a kid?
Ever do yard work on a Sunday? Or cook a Sunday dinner?
If so, you're violating the word of your own god, so why don't you step back and let he who is without sin do the stone throwing.

Tiggrrl,
Who's throwing stones? Using your analogy I'm not accusing anyone of a sin. An yes, I have sinned in my life...does that mean I should support sin because we're all not perfect? Might as well go rob a store! Sinned once, what's the point of trying!? ...That's absurd. God defined marriage as a union between a man and a woman, and it should stay that way. Mocking it by calling a gay union marriage is wrong.
In your utopia, do you ever think that your generation would be the last? Without marriage (in the true sense, i.e. man and woman), human kind would not exist.
Anyway, prop 8 doesn't take away any gay rights, it just preserves marriage as defined by every nation in the WORLD, that is one man and one woman.

Actually, it *is* taking away a right, because the California Supreme Court determined that our state Constitution requires that the state provide marriage equality to every loving couple, regardless of gender.
Changing the Constitution to deny those families the ability to be married takes away a right that they currently have.

Last time I checked, (the year 2000 to be exact), we as Calfornians voted and the PEOPLE said marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman. It was prop 22 if you forget. I also believe we live in a democracy, so I think it's safe to say 2/3 of Californians (who supported it) have more say in the matter than 4 liberal judges. Those judges' opinion can not and will not trump the will of the people. Do you want a few judges making decisions for you and your life, or do you want the people to use their right to vote as the determining factor in these issues?
