Huckabee Says: "Submit Graciously" to your Husband
Can you believe that Republican presidential hopeful and Southern Baptist minister Mike Huckabee actually signed a full-page ad in USA Today that read:
"A wife is to submit graciously to the servant leadership of her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ."
This is actually old news. It was 1998 when the former Arkansas Governor signed in support of the statement with 129 other evangelical leaders. Apparently, it's coming back to haunt him as he is under ever increased scrutiny.
This guys' record on women's autonomy is actually pretty lousy. He states "I first became politically active because of abortion, when I helped to pass Arkansas' Unborn Child Amendment, which requires the state to do whatever it legally can to protect life." He states that Roe v. Wade should be overturned on his Sanctity of Life webpage, where he goes on and on.
I wonder if the wives of those 129 evangelical leaders will vote for Mike. And if they do, will it be because they are graciously submitting to their husbands wishes?
