Chicks Choose ’08, Shut Up and Vote, and Ballot Bitches…
…were fun slogans that probably aren’t going to become the slogan for the 2008 Women’s Vote Campaign that California NOW PAC and EdVoice are creating. In fact, we’re still tossing around campaign name ideas, so send me your ideas fast!
What we do know is that women will decide the 2008 election.
In 1992, Women’s Votes Changed the World. Media called it ‘The Year of the Woman.’ 60 million women voted elected record numbers of women, including Barbara Boxer & Dianne Feinstein from California
In 1994, 16 million of those women didn’t vote. Republicans gained control of Congress for the first time in 40 years.
Then in 2004, 20 million unmarried women didn’t vote. GW Bush was given 2nd term and continued US wars on Afghanistan & Iraq.
We are quickly approaching 2008, and the country and the world are crying for a change in leadership. Media says ‘Single Women’ will Sway Elections. California will have 3 elections in February, June and November. We will have an opportunity to elect amazing women into local and state legislative offices. We will have to show up to vote dangerous initiatives that would roll back rights for women and discriminate against domestic partners. For the first time in history voters have a real chance to elect a woman President of the United States. In 2008 it will be the Soccer Mom’s united with their daughters who are now the Single (& Sought After) Women voters who will decide this vote.
Register Absentee now. It makes voting easy.
And of course, you know I want your help, so get involved!

How about the classic phrase in the women's movement: vote women for a change? I love the double meaning and I think most people are desiring change now more than ever...
